Dear Zane-
I said it before, I'll say it again. The second kid really loses out.
Well, you turned five months old on Sunday, and boy oh boy, where has the time gone? It seems like we just brought you home, and that is probably in part because you aren't sleeping again, which means I'm not sleeping again, so everything is pretty foggy these days. No matter, we're having fun.
So in the past two months, you have really come a long way. You smile and giggle and laugh a lot. You roll, both ways, but not a lot. You can grab onto things, and seem particularly fond of grabbing my hair. If memory serves, your sister did the same thing and I chopped it really short when she was a little older than you are now. We'll see. You really want to sit up, but I think you'll be standing before you can sit - you LOVE when I pull you into a standing position, and your chubby little legs can hold you up for quite some time. You've also been moving like you want to crawl, and today Ada showed you how. Hopefully you took notes.
You are really engaged, and like to take in your surroundings. You talk. A lot. We've asked Ada to interpret, but so far she's keeping your secrets. She loves you, and it is just delightful watching her interact with "Baby Zane" - oh, don't worry, I don't think you'll go to high school still being called "Baby Zane", but if you do, there are worse things to be called. She gives you hugs and kisses as often as she can, and typically you are the only one she wants to see first thing in the morning. It used to be Aggie, but now you seem to get the biggest grins.
You had your first cereal a few days ago. I think you liked it, but that's not surprising. You're definitely working your way up through the food chain. We'll stick with cereal for a while, but I don't think it'll be long before veggies and fruits (and steak) make their way into your diet.
Here you are before the first bite, you look so trusting:
Hmmm, not sure what to think of it...

I think we're starting to get the hang of this having two kids thing. Yes, it's taken a while, but hey, we're old and set in our ways. Anyway, off this goes before it's another two months.
Love, mama
wow. he looks like such a combo of you two! Ada looks like you, to me. But
Zane is 50-50!
Hang in there, it gets better! ;^)
I don't think we'll be calling him "Baby" Zane forever.
If he keeps up the growth he's shown so far he'll be carrying Grandma upstairs soon.
